If you can keep up this level of uniqueness, Lori--wow!

Still...I might not adopt a rat any time soon. I ...I got my first rat back in the 80s by accident. I was living in an apartment in Hollywood and the manager's son had one. He used to bring it around and show me how friendly it was. When he had to get rid of his pets he gave him to me. That rat was not only intelligent and would come when called, but he was also extremely playful. He would jump up on the bed and I would play hide and seek with my hand and he'd pounce on it, tussle for a minute then run away behind the blanket and wait for me to do it again.

One time my boyfriend stepped on his tail and he squeaked in agony -- and came running over to me crying. I used to take that rat everywhere -- out on the street he'd ride on my shoulder and I'm sure freaked a few people out.

I always recommend rats as pets over hamsters any day. Much friendlier and yes, very clean.

I have tons of rat stories including the time my Doberman adopted one and made it his pet. I've even had them get along with cats.Pat Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08824114343214016153noreply@blogger.com
